Richard is a highly experienced and versatile writer, particularly on business and political issues, who can deliver clear and colourful copy at any length from a soundbite to a speech to a saga.

He is the author of High Impact Speeches, a standard work on the craft of speechwriting. As a speechwriter, he has worked closely with John Sunderland, Chairman of Cadbury Schweppes and CBI President, who had this to say of him:

Richard has also written fiction for adults and children, including A Tale of Ten Wickets, several screenplays and Waiting For Gordo, a bleak, existential drama of backbench life in the British Labour Party.

He was a columnist and commentator on two leading British newspapers, The Mail On Sunday and The Times, and has also worked in frontline politics in the House of Commons. In 1996 he was runner-up in BBC Television's Mastermind quiz and a finalist in the 2008 series.
